These images focus on details of three of the many attractions in the Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne – the Conservatory, the Fairies' Tree and the model Tudor Village.
From 1931 to 1934 Ola Cohn carved fairies, dwarfs, gnomes and Australian birds and animals on an original Red Gum stump over 300 years old 'for the fairies and those who believe in them'. She used the natural irregularities and curves of the stump to create a thing of beauty.
