Over the last few days I have photographed the Tahuna Taorea Nature reserve, which is a sandspit reaching out into the Tamaki River in east Auckland, along with an associated salt marsh and forest area, all of which is a bird sanctuary. It was early on a winter morning, the atmosphere still and misty, the colours muted by both the atmosphere and the character of the landscape. The stillness resulted in some stunning reflections in the dam lake.
