Importing Photos into Lightroom

If you’re a Photoshop user just starting to use Lightroom, one of the first differences you’ll run into is the fact that Lightroom is built around a database while Photoshop is not. In order to do anything with a photo in Lightroom, you first have to import it into a Lightroom catalog. It’s here that your Lightroom workflow has to start….

Orchids of Singapore

A New Post From Christina Jablonski http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/CJablonski

My recently published lightbox contains images of the jewel-like orchid flowers from the Singapore Botanic Gardens collection. Native to many countries, they've been known in China since the ancient times. They were cultivated in elegant gardens, painted by artists and written about by scholars. The orchids also had, and still have their place in the Chinese medicine.

Tahuna Torea Nature Reserve

A New Post From David Guthrie http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/David.Guthrie

Over the last few days I have photographed the Tahuna Taorea Nature reserve, which is a sandspit reaching out into the Tamaki River in east Auckland, along with an associated salt marsh and forest area, all of which is a bird sanctuary. It was early on a winter morning, the atmosphere still and misty, the colours muted by both the atmosphere and the character of the landscape. The stillness resulted in some stunning reflections in the dam lake.
This is an environment for wildlife, not a…

Orchids

A New Post From Christina Jablonski http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/CJablonski

While taking photos of the orchids I thought sometimes of their ancient origins. In China they were grown in elegant gardens, painted by artists and written about by scholars. The orchids also had, and still have their place in the herbal Chinese medicine. In this lightbox I'd like to share the images of some of the jewel-like flowers I've seen in the Singapore Botanic Gardens collection.

Open Cut Coal Mines

A New Post From Tracie Pippenger http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/tracielouisephotography

The life blood of the Queensland economy, Open Cut Coal Mining still remains a controversial topic. Whether for Electricity Production in coal fired power plants, or for export overseas, there's no denying the impact that mining has on the Australian Economy.

With the carbon tax still being heavily debated, those within the mining industry prepare for the inevitable impact. Love it or hate it, the mining industry has sustained the Australian Economy through the Global Financial Crisis….

Surfing Swansea Heads

A New Post From Chris Prior http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/CPrior

In July 2011, an east coast low pressure system produced big swells which hit the NSW east coast providing a boon for the big wave aficionados. Surfing spots that lay dormant for the most part of the year suddenly came to life like the wakening of a hibernating grizzly bear. Not for the faint of heart, these waves were for fit and experienced surfers only.

Historical Mining Town of Jerome

A New Post From Tracie Pippenger http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/tracielouisephotography

Founded in 1876, Jerome was a thriving Copper Mining Town located on top of Cleopatra Hill in Arizona. Once it was known as "the wickedest town in the west"… Now a tourist "Ghost Town" and one of the most fascinating (and strangely beautiful) places I have ever been.

The main street is filled with galleries and craft, including glass blowing in a mostly collapsed old building (see 612991). And for a Ghost Town, there was a lot people wandering around enjoying the…

Brisbane built and natural environment

A New Post From Russell Johnson http://GlobalEyeImages.com/portfolio/RJohnson

Announcing my lightbox titled 'About Brisbane Queensland' of images from the Brisbane C.B.D. and surrounding areas. This is a city and region on the move and with its expanding population has kicked off the 21st century running. At the same time there are elements of the past that have been preserved and many are still in daily use. It is also a city blessed with a great river and a sought after climate and a developing cultural buzz.
